National Safety Council Presents Celerity with the Perfect Record Award for Safety
Austin, Texas, September 20, 2004 - The National Safety Council (NSC) announced that it is awarding its Perfect Record Award to Celerity Group, Inc.'s Austin Operations for achieving a stellar safety record that encompasses more than 1.8 million hours worked during 39 consecutive months and the record is still ongoing.
The Perfect Record Award is presented to a company with a safety record of no lost time accidents that covers twelve months or longer. The Celerity achievement is especially remarkable for the over 1.8 million hours worked without a lost-time accident. "The achievement of 1.8 million hours with no lost time injury is an accomplishment that is only possible through safety excellence," said Alan McMillan, President of NSC.
Celerity's Austin facility has achieved outstanding scores through the company's stringent internal safety audit program. These remarkable results are due to the combined efforts of employees, safety committee members, and management leadership.
"Celerity has established safety as a core competency with a strong commitment from all levels of the organization," said Dan Rubin, President of Celerity. "Assuring the safety and health of our employees is a critical focus in our company."
Celerity's success can be credited to its safety program, which recognizes employees who promote safety best practices. Employees are rewarded for nominating other employees who they see as contributing to the creation of a safer workplace. The nominated individuals are also rewarded for their efforts. Another success enabler is the continual removal of hazards from the workplace. Employees and management take turns each month looking for safety hazards, documenting them, and correcting them immediately. "Celerity has and continues to demonstrate its commitment to safety in the workplace. Safety is something that all employees at any company are entitled to," said Brad Sander, Vice President of Operations at Celerity.
"The best result of Celerity's fine program is that their employees go home each day in the same, healthy condition in which they came to work. That is truly their best reward," added McMillan.
